Couples Corner: We're In LOVE!

Rodliz’s Nest
Whewwwwww! Thanks Mami Liz for reminding me about your Couples Corner meme (sensya na ulinanin na kasi)...lol! I'm just very busy handling marriage life, school, and blogging....lol! Anyhow, it is Wednesday once again...time to join Mami Liz's stimulating, inspiring, dramatic, gripping, stirring, thrilling, moving, sensational, rousing, exhilarating, electrifying, intoxicating, rip-roaring meme! (d ako nakahinga sa description!).....:)

This week's theme is "We're In Love". Here's my piece:
Greg and I have known each other through letters. Neither phone nor internet, just letters alone. I knew how he looks through the photo he sent me. We have no relationship, no flirtatious words, in short there are no strings attached between us. It was not really a bigger of a deal for me if we lose contacts because we don't have any serious relationship just like what you guys have. Ours was simple.

Our first meeting went very well. I brought him to met my folks and showed him my family's business, and I also brought him to our farm. The day after we met was my 21st birthday. He have no clue at all that it was my birthday. I invited him to our house to celebrate with us, but before that we went to church to lit a candle. You know in the PI culture, when it is your birthday you need to go to church to lite a candle and whisper your wishes to God.

Most of my wishes was granted (finished college and got a job), the only wish that it did not happen during that time was a boyfriend. I really asked a sign from God, that if he stays and will not meet the other women who he kept in touch with....he is the ONE. Honestly, I forced him to leave and insisted that he needs to meet those 4 women so he will get a chance to know them as well, however he made up his decision that he will spend more time with me. Oppsy doppsy! My first kiss was at that time! lol....:)

So we made a plan to go to Camiguin Island. And that was his late birthday present for me. We had fun and we got the chance to know each other more. We had some deep conversations about life, future and family. He knows about my perception in life, my dignity and my modesty. I am glad he respect my moral values. I thank the Lord God for not falling into temptation during that time. That moment I was pretty convinced that he is the right ONE!

After our Camiguin trip, he stayed at my grandparents house and took a ferry ride going to Cebu. The night before he left, he told me that "Demcy, I think I'm falling in love with you". I felt like I heard a solar crash where heaven and earth collide. Oh my golly gosh gosh! I was speechless.

While waiting for his trip going home, he stayed in Cebu for a night. When I got home from work, I got a phone call from him that he wants to see me before he leave the Philippines. I was shocked! So I hurriedly packed my belongings and told my parents about it. They were hesitant and I can tell the look in their eyes that they're not happy. I am glad we have a family friend who work at the ferry station, so I called him to book me a ticket bound to Cebu (free).

Supposedly the ferry should arrive early in the morning, but because the ferry had some mechanical issues I arrived there late. Greg wasn't there at the port station to fetch me, instead I saw a man holding a sign with my name on it. My gosh, that was so embarrassing! lol....so the taxicab driver told me that he brought Greg to the hotel back because it was too hot and he's all sweating.

When I arrived at the hotel lobby, Greg and I were so excited to see each other. He gave me a kiss and a hug (that was unexpected, feeling ata nya kami na...waaaaaa!) lol. We had lunch and went strolling a little bit. It was memorable. It was a sad moment for us though when I left him at the ferry station. While I was ready to take off, he called me and he did the sign language of "I Love You!". My heart was melted. I thought to myself, I am in love with him!

To be continued.......

Mommy Moments - Tantrums Tantrums

mommy moments
Thanks for coming by people! It is time for me to participate the Mommy Moments meme once again. This week's theme is "Tantrums".

Here are some of Akesha's tantrum moments.....:)
Akesha and Buddy were playing under the table. Then a few minutes later I saw her tiny fist right on Buddy's eye (sinuntok ba naman ang kawawang aso....lol!). Akesha got mad because Buddy stopped playing with her, so she punched him! Poor Buddy. I am glad that Buddy is so patient and he's always been a great big brother to Akesha.
Now this story is different. Buddy wanted to play catch with Akesha. So Akesha throw the toy and Buddy will catch it and will give the toy back to Akesha to throw it again. They get along for awhile, but then all in a sudden Akesha got mad because Buddy won't give the toy back to her anymore.

Akesha have tantrum moments that are worst than the photos above. However, I have no photos during those moments...lol! For more entries, just click the button above.

COUPLE’S CORNER: The Day We Met/Dined Out

I know this entry is super late, but I am very persistent not to miss this episode. So anyhow, I supposed to join last week, but due to my midterm exam I wasn't able to participate the meme. I just want to thank Mami Liz for inviting me on her meme called "Couples Corner". The theme for this week is about "The Day We Met/ Dined Out". Thanks Mami Liz for the invite. For more stories, just click the button above.

I asked hubby earlier if he could share a little bit of his story. So here it goes.
"I was hoping to get married in my 20s, but that never happened for me. I am glad I didn't because I wouldn't have met my soul mate if I got married in my 20s. After I graduated from Sacramento State, I joined a penpal club where I met my wife. We corresponded through the mail for 8 months and then I went to the Philippines to meet her. She was a little reserved at meeting me because I told her that I was initially going to the Philippines to meet many of the women I was corresponding with. I actually went to Ethiopia one time to met someone that didn't work out, so this time I set up a schedule to meet about 5 of the people I corresponded with. However, Demcy was the one that I was more interested in meeting. I was getting ready to get on the plane to travel to the Philippines and the plane broke down which caused me to be delayed a day. Demcy was the only person I called to tell her I was going to be late. I was suppose to meet someone in Cebu first before I met Demcy, but because the plane broke down, I went directly to Cagayan de Oro and didn't go to Cebu. I called Demcy when I arrived and we made plans to meet at the hotel. I am sure she was nervous because I was. This was a blind date that was 3000 miles from my home. Demcy showed up at the hotel with her friend Janice and we introduced ourselves. We ended up talking a little bit, and she took me to her parents house. I enjoyed my time with her and her family and decided that I wanted to stay with her longer and not travel to see the other people I was planning on meeting. I sent them emails canceling my visit which upset some of them. But, I met my soulmate and got married on my second trip to the Philippines."

So here is my version of the story.
Hubby and I have known each other through letters. I wrote my first letter to him when I was in 4th year college. Yes, SNAIL MAIL! I am glad it worked for us. That time I was very busy, and going to internet cafe is a hassle and I have no time to chat with guys online. Most of them are nasty anyway(d naman lahat, yung sa nakita ko lang ha?!). We never chatted online,no phonecalls, and no strings attach. Plain and simple. We're just friends. After 8 months of corresponding, he told me that he is going to come to the PI and meet me in person. I was anxious and nervous at the same time. Who could ever thought that snail mail is still existing? I already knew that he's also corresponding with other women in the PI and he is also planning to meet them. I told him to cancel his trip to Cagayan de Oro when I found out that he is planning to go to Cebu first to meet this lady (nawalan ako ng gana na makipagkita sa kanya)lol!

Well the destiny brought us together(ang tadhana nga naman, kung d nasira yung eroplano d kami magkakatuluyan....waaaa!). Thanks to the broken plane! When I was about to leave the house going to the review center, I got a phone call from a landline number. My heart was pounding when I heard the voice. It was Greg on the line, telling me that he have arrived and wanting to meet me in person. I was shocked and very anxious. I did not expect anything from him anymore because I already declined our meeting.

So I put myself together after our shocking conversation. Then I asked one of my closest friends to go with me to meet Greg. We met at the hotel lobby. We shook our hands and we hugged. My first impression was, he looks like a geek with his eyeglasses on and he looks buff on his shirt. I am very hesitant to talk to him, but we have managed to have our conversation very well. I brought him to my parents village and met my folks there. Then we brought him to the mall and we had our dinner at Chowking. To end our exhausting day, we parted our ways with a hugged. He whispered into my ears "Thanks, will see you tomorrow". And that's how we started our relationship.
Abangan ang susunod na kabanata....lol!

Mormon Tabernacle, Salt Lake City

Photos were taken inside the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah. This was taken last year during our visit to Salt Lake City. The place is very solemn and the structure is phenomenal.
The Salt Lake Tabernacle, also known as the Mormon Tabernacle, is located in Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah along with the Salt Lake Assembly Hall and Salt Lake Temple.
The Tabernacle was built to house meetings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormon church), and was the location of the semi-annual LDS General Conference for 132 years. However, because of the growth in the number of conference attendees, the LDS General Conference was moved to the new and larger LDS Conference Center in 2000. In the October 1999 General Conference, LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley gave a talk honoring the Tabernacle and introducing the new LDS Conference Center. Now a historic building in Temple Square, the Salt Lake Tabernacle is still used for overflow crowds during General Conference. The Tabernacle is the home of the world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and was the previous home of the Utah Symphony Orchestra until the construction of Abravanel Hall.

Taking pictures of birds, insects, butterflies, and other kinds of animals is one of my forte. When I got here in the US from the Philippines, I was very amazed and fascinated when I saw a squirrel. I haven't seen a squirrel before not until I moved here. I asked hubby before if I could bring the squirrel home, but all I got from him was a laugh. Oh dear! I thought I can pet them...lol!

World's Biggest Corn Maze

Have you been to a corn maze before? Yesterday we went to one that is closer to where we live. We got lost actually. And we called it quits....lol! Do you know that the biggest corn maze in the world is located in Dixon California?
http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/photos/medium/5497302.jpg
A corn maze or maize maze is a maze cut out of a corn field. They have become popular tourist attractions in North America, and a way for farms to create tourist income. Many are based on artistic designs such as characters from movies. Corn mazes actually began as formal garden mazes developed throughout Europe for the wealthiest castles and palaces to amuse kings and princesses. By the 19th century mazes became popular entertainment attractions in parks and public places. Corn mazes appear in many different designs. Some mazes are even created to tell stories or to portray a particular theme. Most have a path, which goes all around the whole pattern, either to end in the middle or to come back out again. In the United Kingdom, they are known as maize mazes ("corn" in British English is generally taken to refer to wheat, and "maize maze" has an attractive ring to it when spoken), and are especially popular with farms in the east of England. These mazes are normally combined with other farm attractions of interest to families and day trippers. Some of these attractions include hay rides, a petting zoo, play areas for children, and picnic areas. Each year a few of the mazes are featured in national newspapers and TV. In the U.S., corn mazes typically are cut down circa the first week of November.

The largest corn maze in the world is located in Dixon, California, and is 40 acres (160,000 m2) in area. The Guinness Book of World Records gave this designation in September, 2007.

Angkor Wat

When I took a Spanish class not so long ago, I met a guy who came from Cambodia. He showed me some photos of the famous Angkor Wat temple and other tourist attractions in Cambodia. He even named his auto shop from this temple. How I wish someday my family and I can visit this place.
http://bestholiday.com.my/cart/images/AngkorWat630-9974.jpg
Angkor Wat (or Angkor Vat) is a temple complex at Angkor, Cambodia, built for the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation—first Hindu, dedicated to Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple is the epitome of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.

Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple mountain and the later galleried temple, based on early South Indian Hindu architecture, with key features such as the Jagati. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs and for the numerous devatas (guardian spirits) adorning its walls.

The modern name, Angkor Wat, means "City Temple": Angkor is a vernacular form of the word nokor which comes from the Sanskrit word nagara meaning capital. wat is the Khmer word for temple. Prior to this time the temple was known as Preah Pisnulok, after the posthumous title of its founder, Suryavarman II.
