It's Nostalgia time once again! Thanks to sisRose for hosting this awesome meme. My entry for this week is about our trip to Half Moon Bay, California.

He is the owner and CEO of hubby's previous company. He's originally from Egypt. We miss you Mr. Kais!

Lady in RED

Here's my little lady getting ready for church. Last Sunday evening, hubby and daughter went to church service. I did not go with them because I had an upset stomach. They came home around 8pm, and brought my favorite frappe iced coffee from Mcdonald.

Volunteer

If there is one thing that I am most passionate about, it is volunteering. I've done a few volunteer jobs since I was in high school and I've done a few community services in college as well. I like to help others, and it's a way of giving back for all the blessings and good things in my life. It gives me a good feeling of accomplishment, and pleasure to help other people who are in needs.
I've been here in the US for almost 6 years, and has no work experience. The only work experience I have that I'm very proud of is doing some voluntary jobs. I think my husband and I have volunteered for over 5 organizations from the past 5 years. Last year we volunteered at his previous company, Delegata.
promo girl? Nay, it's called presenting sponsor...:)
This year we are hoping to find some voluntary works in our city.
This is my entry for this week's Nostalgia. And by the way, hope you can stop by at my newly published BLOG. Thanks!

J is for Jello

Who wants some JELLO? It was last year when daughter made her first jello tray. She had a blast making it! Now, she's a jello expert maker.

100 Dogs

There was an employee of Outdoor Adventures in Canada who claimed that sled dogs were slaughtered due to the downturn of the economy. Joey Houssian, who owns the company, said that he didn't' know anything about the slaughter. There were a lot of discrepancies in the employee's story that Joey points out. Joey has had many media meetings to give his side of the story. Joey loves dogs and would have never have never knowingly slaughtered the 100 dogs claimed by the employee. If you are wanting to know more about this Canadian story, you will want to read this article online.

Landscaping

Last Friday, the landscaper people delivered and installed the sods and mulches in our backyard. It took them 3 hours to finish the job. Our initial plan was to let them do the whole landscaping project, but since we are on a tight budget right now, we decided to just do the gardening by ourselves.
We chose bermuda grass. Bermuda grass is relatively low maintenance and ideal for warm climates, like here in San Antonio. Here's our on going project:

Home Speakers

I think having an entertainment center is kind of like owning your own personal movie theater. Am I right? Television has advanced quite a bit from the days of old black and white with fuzzy pictures, these days big screen entertainment centers have become the rave. I noticed many people are now buying big screen tvs to take television viewing to a higher level. A few of my in-laws have 50”-60” flat screen tv with high end home speakers. My husband would love to get one of those home speakers for Christmas.

Blue Cross

Health insurance is important part of life for most Americans. It is to be considered the vital part of life to make it secure and free from financial problems in the time of sickness. In other countries, most people can’t afford health insurance. My family are very fortunate to have a reliable health insurance like the Blue Cross of NC. We used to be a Blue Cross card holder, but not anymore because my husband moved to another company.

Back Acne Treatment

I was giving my husband a back massage the other day, and noticed some small bumps on his back. I did not realized those are back acne. I mentioned it to him but he told me to ignore it. No wonder why he likes to scratch his back all the time. I am thinking of getting him a back acne treatment. I hope it helps him stop scratching his back.

Affordable Cigars

Are you a cigar smoker? Cigars became the most popular in the early of 21st century. A lot of people thought that cigars are only for celebrities and rich people but that is not true. There are lot of cheap cigars in the market today. Last year, I bought my father a pack of cigars on Father’s day. He never had cigars before. He said that cigars are far way better than cigarettes. I am hoping to send him a new brand of cigar like the Davidoff cigars I saw online. He would be delighted!

Purple

It's Mommy Moments once again. This week's theme is purple. So purple it is! Aside from pink, purple is one of my daughter's favorite colors.
This photo was taken at our backyard from our previous place in California. I believe it's during Mother's day, 2009.
A day at the park.
Photo was taken last year during our visit to Seaworld, San Antonio.

Souvenirs From South Carolina

My Nostalgia entry for this week is late. I know I am super late, sorry badingding. I've been pretty occupied lately. Anyhow, here's my entry for this week.
These are the souvenirs from South Carolina. Hubby went to Shaw Air Force base for two weeks on his annual tour in the military. When he got back, he brought us some stuff. He bought the Texas shot glass during his lay over in San Antonio.

Incredible Piece from India

A month ago, hubby's boss went on a business trip to India. He got back a few weeks ago. Hubby's boss is very nice because he bought each member of his team an incredible souvenir from India. I believe it is called Jaipur Miniature Painting.
According to my research, this beautiful painting was hand made on an Official Document of an old Sultanate in Northern India called Jaipor. This document represents a Court’s Resolution in that Sultanate and is dated 1904 AD. The Emblem you see in the top of leaf is a Tax Stamp for the court.
The paper used is antique court stamp paper. The stamp signifies the court fee paid. Since the amount paid is in "annas". There are writings all over the place (in a script/language) that I cannot read.
I found some jaipur pieces in ebay, and each painting costs at least $175.00.

Rainforest Cafe

Have you ever been to Rainforest Cafe? Rainforest Cafe is a themed restaurant chain owned by Landry's Restaurants, Inc. of Houston, Texas.
We've been wanting to eat at this place since we used to live in California. I saw one in San Francisco and one in Las Vegas. I'm glad they have a branch here in San Antonio.
Last weekend, hubby suggested to eat at Rainforest cafe near the riverwalk. The food was ok, but I like the ambiance the most.
Each Rainforest Cafe restaurant is designed to depict some features of a rainforest, including plant growth, mist, waterfalls, animatronic robots of animals and insects. To enhance this theme, the restaurants are populated by animatronic figures
Large marine aquariums are common in most restaurants. Automated water sprinklers and synchronized lights set to specific patterns are also featured. A simulated thunderstorm occurs every thirty minutes, utilizing simulated rain as well as flashing lights and high-powered subwoofers for lightning and thunder. It was a great experience.

Spill Berms

Did you know that the SEI spill berms provide containment for material that can be hazardous? There's a lot of information online about spill berms that you should read to get more information. The SEI Industries is offering a variety of spill containment berms that can meet your needs. If you work with hazardous material and need a reliable way to contain the hazardous material, you might want to checkout SEI Industries. They have containment berms to support small and large needs for spill controls.

Mommy Moments: Green

It's another Mommy Moments episode, and the theme for this week is GREEN. Here's my entry.
This photo was taken last year, I think she wore this green outfit during St. Patrick's day. Speaking of St. Patties, we are hoping to join the parade this weekend.
This photo was also taken during St. Patrick's day. Akesha was less than a year old at that time.

Log Cabins

Have you been dreaming of living around log cabins? You can stay in an authentic log cabin which is in the middle of beautiful trees along the glacier-fed Kicking Horse River. These log cabins are located in the Canadian Rockies which is one of the finest places to spend your vacation. You can get away from the television, telephone and other annoying disruptions and enjoy the great outdoors like they were meant to be enjoyed. These cabins were established in 1885 and is located in Yoho National Park which is one of the 41 national parks in Canada. If you want a nice get away, you should consider the Yoho National Park.

Junk Bins

You need to consider getting junk bins to help you with your debris removal service. Junk Bins in North Vancouver can help you get rid of the debris to prevent any hazardous material being left on a job site. It can reduce the chances of someone getting injured. It can also help a job running smoother. This can be a better way to go because in Downtown Vancouver, you can get rid of your drywall, dirt, sod, gravel and even old appliances using these junk bins. So if you live in Burnaby, Surrey & Delta, you need to consider using junk bins to get rid of the junk at your job site.

Community Week Celebration

It was 6 years ago when I worked as an accounting clerk at our local Municipal Office in the Philippines.  I got hired right after I graduated from college. I was pretty lucky working at a government sector. Some people thought I got hired because my father is a politician and he's friends with the Mayor.....waaa! I proved them wrong, and I worked my b**t off and showed them that I am qualified for the job.
I love working at Treasury Department. And I miss working with my "ates" and "kuyas". After 10 months of experience, my life has changed in the blink of an eye. I got married and left the Philippines...waaaaaa!
Debits, credits, payroll..budget....lol! I seriously miss my job. Lucky is the person who replaced my position.
During our community week parade...I used to be a MUSE...nyahahhaa!
Thanks badingding for hosting this meme....:)

ABC Wednesday

This week's ABC Wednesday letter is itch! Oh, I mean letter H.....:) H is for Horns and Horse
Meet Woodrow the Long Horn.
One of the best spots to visit in San Antonio is the Enchanted Springs Ranch. It's an inexpensive place to have fun with kids! Everything is included with admission (tractor ride, puppet show, pistal packin paula, stunt show, and more.
Horse ride....:)
It is definitely a fun place to take the kids to see what a ranch is like. My daughter enjoyed seeing all of the animals on the tractor ride as well as sitting on Woodrow the Long Horn and riding a horse.
Recommended by Oprah Winfrey.

I Need New Table Lamps

My husband and I bought a new leather reclining sofa and loveseat last Christmas. We purchased both items at csnstores.com. It’s the biggest online purchase we have so far. At first we were kind of hesitant buying these items online because we don’t want to end up spending thousands of dollars, and not satisfied with the quality of the furniture. It was a big risk, but I already knew that CSNStores is a trusted and reliable shopping store online. We are very pleased with the furniture when it arrived. The size is perfect and quality looks great!
Now I’m eyeing for table lamps. I would want to get a contemporary table lamps that will brighten up our living room. I believe that table lamps are one of the easiest, most popular and cost effective ways to enhance the lighting and decor of the home. How about you? What type of table lamps do you like?

Dining Out at A Steak Buffet

I was supposed to barbecue last Saturday but we did not get home on time. We were busy running errands. So instead of cooking at home, we went out to eat at a steak buffet place called Coyote Canyon.
I honestly don't like their food except the steak. They're serving old food...yuck! I would not go back to that place again.
But the little miss seems to like her fries, fruits, and pizza.
She loves this dessert. I don't know what it's called.
