Bonjour Pari! We finally got to see the famous tower in the whole world, The Eiffel Tower. It's pretty surreal to finally see this magnificent landmark of France.
The weather forecast in Paris during our visit was chilly with a moderate rain. I'm glad it was not raining when we went to see the tower. It was overcast in the afternoon but it started sprinkling when we're about to head back to the hotel.
Located on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most well known structures in the world. It was originally built as the entrance arch for the World's Fair in 1889 and was named after Gustave Eiffel, whose company was in charge of the project.
This tower is 1050 feet in height and was the tallest man made structure in the world for 41 years before being surpassed by the Chrysler Building in New York. It is made of iron and weighs around 10000 tonnes.
As expected, the queues were insane! It took us almost 2 hours to get our passes and another excruciating line to get to the lift. Even the line for visitors who would like to take and climb upstairs was long.
The lift pass cost 17 euro and 11 euro if you would like to climb upstairs. We had enough walking for the day so of course we opted to take the lift. It was worth all the wait though once you get to the very top of the tower.
The view is spectacular! You could literally see the entire city of Paris. Behind us is the Trocadero Gardens. At the top there's also an overpriced champagne bar and free toilet rooms. We loved the overall experience despite the long queue. This is one of the landmarks that you should see at least once in your lifetime.
Do you know that the French name for the Eiffel Tower is La Tour Eiffel? It also has the nickname La dame de fer which means the iron lady.
