5 Tips For Make Moving Fun For The Family

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know how challenging a move is. Even if you already hired movers NYC or the best moving company NYC, expect that there are still tasks which you should accomplish by yourself. The stress you’ll feel when moving can heighten when you’re
doing it with your family – but using the right strategies can change that.

Moving can actually be fun for the whole family. Once you know the dos and don’ts, a stressful move can become memorable for all the right reasons. To help you out, take note of the following tips:

1. Make moving a game.

Instead of thinking that kids can be a handful whenever moving, let them help with the tasks for the move. Depending on their age, you can ask them to pack their toys and clothes by themselves. If you’re going to move with one kid, make moving a game. Let them race as to who will pack their stuff first and give prizes to the winner.

Making the move a game is like hitting two birds with one stone – you’ll be keeping your kids occupied while taking several responsibilities off your shoulders. Just make sure that you actually have time to look at the progress made by the kids.

2. Create a playlist.
You’ll have a lot of things on your plate when moving. For starters, you’ll have to declutter your home, pack all of your valuables properly, and label all of your moving boxes. If you’re going to bring a lot of stuff with you, accomplishing all of these tasks might require weeks or even months. If you don’t want anyone in the family to get bored, create a playlist. Look for upbeat songs and play it when you’re working for the move. If you know some of your family member’s favorite songs, include them in the playlist, too.

When good music is on, packing will no longer be about packing – it’ll also be a time to groove and just have fun!

3. Eat like kings.
Because of the things required from you when moving, eating healthy is a must. No matter how busy you are in packing or cleaning your home, the entire family should never skip any meals. You should prepare scrumptious and well-balanced meals for the family. Snacks and water should also be included.

If your upcoming move will require the family to travel for hours, pack meals, and cold drinks. You can prepare salads ahead of time or fill a cooler with bottled water and fruit drinks. Doing all of these will not only keep everyone energized during the move – it can also help you save money from buying food along the way.

4. Let the kids decorate their own rooms.

Your move doesn’t end once you arrive in your new home; you still have to unload all of your moving boxes and make your house feel like home. To keep your kids engaged and occupied, let them design their own rooms. Give them the liberty to place different items in their room. This is a great way of letting your kids’ creativity and uniqueness shine. Plus, it can also help them adjust easily to the new environment and minimize stress.

5. Document the move.
For sure, you own several gadgets. Instead of keeping all of these during the move, use these to take pictures of your family and what they did when moving. Kids who are packing their toys on their own is a memorable moment, so make sure that you take pictures. You should do the same whenever your family is playing games in the car or unloading all of the moving boxes from the vehicle.

Think Positive
Aside from using this article as your guide, have a clear mind, and think positive when moving. Having the right mindset can go a long way to make your upcoming move fun and one for the books!
