Travel guide to Mykonos. Greece

Mykonos is the place where you can combine your summer vacations on beautiful beaches with a lot of historical sightseeing while choosing an amazing Mykonos villa for rent
Beaches
The most important one of Mykonos' tourist attractions, which makes it stand out among all the Aegean islands, is undoubtedly its beaches. They are accessible either by car or motorbike, as the radial road network of the island starting from Mykonos Town extends to almost every corner of the island. Here are the 5 best beaches of Mykonos.
Kalo Livadi: Calm, transparent waters on a fully organized beach with several restaurants. In Kalo Livadi you will often need to book a sun lounger from the previous day. It is the most ideal beach for families with children as it is shallow and the sand is wonderful.
Psarou: The top choice of celebrities. Although it is purely cosmopolitan, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, with turquoise waters and golden sand. No matter how strong the wind is, the sea at Psarou is always calm.
Panormos: The waters are crystal clear and not as cold as in other beaches of the island. A big advantage is that there are so many cushions and sun beds that you will definitely find somewhere nice to relax.
Ornos: This is one of the most popular beaches on the island and is highly recommended to those who want to combine relaxation, impeccable service and luxury. It is located just 4 km from Chora.
Agios Sostis: Perhaps the most beautiful beach of Mykonos, which still retains the atmosphere of a pristine beach, as you will find nothing to remind you of a beach bar with sun loungers. It is neither organized nor easy to access, but it is definitely worth visiting.
Sightseeing (Delos / churches)
Just a day of walking around in Mykonos Town will give you plenty of beautiful images to take back home with you. But if you really want to feel the history and tradition of Mykonos, you should definitely visit some of the many churches on the island and Delos islet.
Delos: The entire holy, rocky island of Delos - which according to the legend was the place where Apollo and Artemis were born - is an archaeological site, the most important in Cyclades. It has been the political and religious center of the Aegean Sea for more than a thousand years. It is accessible by boat from Mykonos and the journey takes less than an hour. Delos is famous all over the world for its stunning mosaics with precious stones, as well as for the five emblematic statues of the Lions. The well-preserved temple of Apollo and the Archaeological Museum of the island, built in 1904, also deserve a visit. Camping or overnight staying on the island is strictly forbidden.
Churches: The churches of Mykonos are countless, more than four hundred, but none of them can be described as large or magnificent. Their creators had the sense of moderation, so their size does not exceed that of a traditional Mykonian house. Their simple, white structure usually holds a red or blue dome. Most of them wer built during the 17th – 19th centuries. The most famous and yet more impressive church of Mykonos is Panagia Paraportiani. Other famous churches are Panagia Tourliani, the Monastery of Paliokastro and the Catholic Church of Virgin Rodario.
Museums
Apart from Delos Archeological Museum and excavations site, Mykonos most important museums are:
Archaeological Museum of Mykonos: It was built in 1902 to house the findings from Rhenia archeological site. Here you will see amazing exhibits of sculpture, everyday items, tools, and jewels.
Aegean Maritime Museum: The purpose of the Museum is to preserve, display and study the Greek naval history and tradition, and in particular the development and activity of the merchant ship, especially in the historical area of the Aegean.

Folklore Museum of Mykonos: Its main exhibition building is located in Kastro, near Paraportiani Church and is housed in an old two-storey mansion. It includes 2 more venues, the "House of Lena" (a preserved middle class house of the last century) and the Mill of Bonni (a traditional mill with all the tools and machines that were used to process agricultural products during the few last centuries).
