Start Your Day Right When Working From Home

If you are working from home you need to start the day right and provide yourself with the fuel you need to get through your to-do list in the home office.

Let’s take a look at different options of what you can do to wake yourself up enough to start work.

Hearty Breakfast

Breakfast is of course the most important meal of the day. It sets your body and mind up for the busy day ahead and it should last you through to lunch. You may not be hungry as soon as you wake up but one of the perks and bonuses of working in the comfort of your own home is that you can take a break and wander to the kitchen whenever you feel your belly growling.

Porridge is a good option as this is full of rich antioxidants and provides you with a good number of the vitamins and minerals your body needs to function. It also keeps you fuller for longer, so there will be less wanting to snack in between meals. You can add bits into porridge as well to liven it up, for example, blueberries or slices of banana.

If it's too late for breakfast but too early for lunch by the time you get hungry why not take a look at brunch ideas at home, this will give you some exciting new dishes that you might not have tried before.

Refreshing Shower

When you wake up, a cool shower can be very refreshing. A hot shower can make you sleepy which you don’t want when you have just woken up and have around 6 to 8 hours of work to get through. If you set the shower to cold and alternate between warm and cold it will wake you up and get the blood flowing for better circulation. These are known as contrast showers.

Cold showers have been known to fight off the symptoms of depression, this is due to the cold water sending more messages to the brain. Cold showers make you feel more alert due to the ice-cold temperatures most certainly waking you up. Another benefit of cold showers is they will improve your skin and hair, cold showers tighten your skin and pores and prevent hair loss.

Exercise Routine

A quick 10-minute workout before work will get the blood and hormones flowing around your body, keeping you alert and making you feel happy and ready to work. Working out also improves your memory and brain function, something that is much needed when working from home.

You can set up a circuit in your living room or bedroom and do sets of different exercises or you could put on a fitness DVD to follow. Another option is to go for an early morning run, this will help you wake up and stay alert, it will also fight off hunger pangs as most people can feel full after exercising.

We hope this gives you an idea of how to start the day right when you are working from home.
