Mommy Moments - Name Game

It's Friday once again.....time for Mommy Moments entry. This week's theme is NAME GAME. The theme was suggested by sis Genebei. So here's my piece.
AKESHA LOURICE APDIAN DIAS is Akesha's real name. Yep! You read it loud and clear. When I was pregnant, hubby and I made a list of baby names (boy/girl). We even tried combining our names but it doesn't sound right...lol! So I came up with the name Akesha....I barely remember where did I got that name from.....LOURICE (pronounced as loris) is a combination of my mother's name and MIL. LOU from Loudem and Rice from Janice Claire. I followed the filipino way...so Apdian is Akesha's middle name (my family name). So I guess that sums up everything.

By the way, my name is a combination of my dad and mom's name. My dad's name is Maximo and my mom's name is Loudem. The spelling of my name supposedly is DEMXIE, but the registrar messed up my birth certificate to DEMCY....lol!

World's Longest Staircase

http://images.gadmin.ch/80038/images/detailwide/Detail_wide17.jpg
Have you ever wonder what is the world's longest staircase is? Mt. Niesen is in the Guiness Book of records - not because of its perfect pyramid shape but rather because of the 11,674 steps that make up the world"s longest staircase. The stairs are located right next to the funicular that goes to the summit of this 2,336-meter-high mountain. The stairs are not open to the public and are used by the personnel of the funicular - and a good thing it is, too, since climbing all of those stairs would probably take wind right out of most people's sails. That is why a trip with the nostalgic funicular dating back to 1910 is preferable. Deep down below one can glimpse Lakes Thun and Brienz, and from afar one can admire the triumvirate Mpunts Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. There are some rather steep hikes that lead one back down into the valley.

The Space Needle

These photos were taken during our trip to Space Needle in Seattle,Washington, USA.
Summer of 2008
The Space Needle is a tower in Seattle, Washington, and is a major landmark of the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and a symbol of Seattle. Located at the Seattle Center, it was built for the 1962 World's Fair, during which time nearly 20,000 people a day used the elevators, with over 2.3 million visitors in all for the World Fair. The Space Needle is 605 feet (184 m) high at its highest point and 138 feet (42 m) wide at its widest point and weighs 9,550 tons. When it was completed it was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River. It is built to withstand winds of up to 200 mph (320 km/h) and earthquakes of up to 9.1 magnitude.[5] (which would protect the structure against an earthquake as powerful as the 1700 Cascadia earthquake). The tower also has 25 lightning rods on its roof to prevent lightning damage.

The Space Needle features an observation deck at 520 feet (160 m), and a gift shop with the rotating SkyCity restaurant at 500 feet (152 m). From the top of the Needle, one can see not only the Downtown Seattle skyline, but also the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, Elliott Bay and surrounding islands.

Luxor Las Vegas

I took the photo above during our first visit to Las Vegas, Nevada. This is one of the coolest hotels I've ever seen in my life. The Luxor Las Vegas is a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It was one of the city's first fully-themed mega-resorts. Ground was broken for the Luxor in 1991, that same year construction began on the Treasure Island and the current MGM Grand. It has a pyramid and modern motif and contains a total of 4,407 rooms lining the interior walls of a hollow pyramid and contained within twin ziggurat towers that were built as later additions. The hotel is named after the city of Luxor (ancient Thebes) in Egypt, the site of the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temples, and scores of other pharaonic monuments—but no pyramids.

The last article I read was about creating a successful blog, and you can read it at this website: http://www.web-articles.info/e/a/title/Tips for making your blog Successful/ . Mommy Moments: Part of the Family

mommy moments
This weekend's Mommy Moments theme is "Part of the Family". I know I have photos of Akesha with my family in the PI, but I have trouble looking for them in my lappy. Anyhow, here's my entry.
Dias Family is an International family, not only it is an international family but it is also a huge family....yes, huge as in huge! Greg's parents have 14 children and 34 grandchildren, and 7 great grankids. This photo was taken last Christmas....this was during our white elephant party.

This was taken during my brother-in-law from Oregon and his family came to visit us here in California.
Water park getaway.
Last but not the least.....of course, I will not forget about Akesha's best buddy..BUDDY! Buddy is such a gentle and overprotective dog....he's been a great companion and playmate of Akesha. I always told Akesha that she should not hit Buddy because Buddy is her older brother. Buddy was our first kid....lol!
