How to Take Your Electronic Devices Overseas

In few more months we are gonna be traveling to the Philippines. One of the most important things we need to bring is the voltage converter. Traveling overseas is not easy as it sounds. It is great to travel overseas, but if you bring electronics with you, you have to make sure the voltage on your device is correct.

If you would like to know how to take electronic devices overseas, here are some tips for you:
http://www.indiamike.com/india/attachments/9795d1239220703-voltage-converter-for-1875-watt-hair-dryer-adapter.jpg
-To start, check the voltage of all the devices you plan on taking overseas. Most likely your device will say 100v or 110v. If it says 110v - 220v then your device is dual voltage, which means you won't need to convert the voltage when you travel.

-If your device is not dual voltage, don't worry - you can purchase a small step-down converter or transformer that will convert the voltage for you. You have to make sure the wattage on the converter is enough for your device. (If your device need 50W, you'll need a transformer with at least 50W as well).

-Once you have your converter and devices ready, you might also need a plug adapter, depending on where you're going. Most of the devices you can purchase in USA have thin, vertical metal prongs, whereas the standard overseas is round metal prongs.

-If you don't buy a plug adapter, your device (or even converter) might not fit into the outlets of the place you are visiting.

-If you plan on living overseas for a few years, the best thing to do is replace all your electronic devices, since constantly using a converter might wear it out.

That's her fave puppy that got lost somewhere...we don't know where it went! And that's her 3 year old fave blanket.

The KC-10 Extender

Here are some photos taken when went to see the Air Show this year. Featuring the KC-10 Extender.
The KC-10 Extender is an Air Mobility Command advanced tanker and cargo aircraft designed to provide increased global mobility for U.S. armed forces. Although the KC-l0's primary mission is aerial refueling, it can combine the tasks of a tanker and cargo aircraft by refueling fighters and simultaneously carry the fighter support personnel and equipment on overseas deployments.
The KC-10 can transport up to 75 people and nearly 170,000 pounds (76,560 kilograms) of cargo a distance of about 4,400 miles (7,040 kilometers) unrefueled. The KC-10 has three large fuel tanks under the cargo floor, one under the forward lower cargo compartment, one in the center wing area and one under the rear compartment. Combined, the capacity of the six tanks carry more than 356,000 pounds (160,200 kilograms) of fuel - almost twice as much as the KC-135 Stratotanker.
Inside the Aircraft.
The large cargo-loading door can accept most air forces' fighter unit support equipment. Powered rollers and winches inside the cargo compartment permit moving heavy loads. The cargo compartment can accommodate loads ranging from 27 pallets to a mix of 17 pallets and 75 passengers.

Drowsy Driving Awareness

Have you ever driven when you were drowsy? Statistics have shown that
55% of fatigue related crashes involved drivers under 25. One of the
biggest causes of fatigue related crashes is Shift Work Disorder. Shift
Work Disorder is a medical condition that causes a person individual
internal clock to get out of sync with their work schedule. This has
been seen in the teen population with most being 'chronically
sleep-deprived'. A person can get this condition usually when they work
outside the standard framework of a 9 to 5 schedule. People who work
more than 1 job can also get this condition. You should visit the Shift
Work Disorder's website to get more information about driving while
sleep deprived.

Craters Of the Moon, Arco Idaho

These photos were taken during our trip to Idaho. Idaho is not really my favorite State. As I have noticed, only few people live in this State. There is no place that impresses me in Idaho. All I saw were cows, farms, desert, farms, farms, cows, cows.....lol! After all Idaho is one of the producers of big potatoes in the country. Enough of my repetitive rants, the main purpose why we went to Idaho is to see the the famous Craters of the Moon.

Craters of the Moon is a national monument and national preserve located in the Snake River Plain in central Idaho, U.S.A. It is along US 20 (concurrent with US 93 & US 26), between the small cities of Arco and Carey, at an average elevation of 5,900 feet (1,800 m) above sea level. The protected area's features are volcanic and represent one of the best preserved flood basalt areas in the continental United States.

The Monument and Preserve encompass three major lava fields and about 400 square miles (1,036 km2) of sagebrush steppe grasslands to cover a total area of 1,117 square miles (2,893 km2). All three lava fields lie along the Great Rift of Idaho, with some of the best examples of open rift cracks in the world, including the deepest known on Earth at 800 feet (240 m). There are excellent examples of almost every variety of basaltic lava as well as tree molds (cavities left by lava-incinerated trees), lava tubes (a type of cave), and many other volcanic features.

Solar Energy

In these difficult times, people are looking to find ways to save money. Energy costs have been going up and people are looking for ways to save money on energy. You might consider switching to Solar Energy. What people don’t know is that solar energy solutions are expected to surpass nuclear energy in cost per Mwh. The technology is changing rapidly and with the cashback/tax refunds that you might get, this solution can save you a lot of money in the long run. There are a lot of topics covered about solar energy such as solar cooking boxes, photovoltaic solar panels, solar heat collecting panes, solar heating, and solar cars that you might want to read. One interesting article is about the Solar Power Car Kits. These car kits can range in size from a toy, to street legal vehicles. These cars are designed to get energy from the sun to power the cars battery. Solar cooking is another great way to save on energy costs. This way of cooking can benefit your family because they can cook without the use of gas or fuels. It is also great for the environment. You can use a solar oven to cook your food at home, or you can take it camping to enjoy great tasting food someplace else. You should checkout AllinSolars.com to get all the information on how you can start living a solar lifestyle. You should stop being dependent on the energy companies, and start using natural resources that you don’t have to pay for. You can learn about solar power, residential solar and how to build your own solar panels just by visiting this website. So what are you waiting for? Instead of continuously giving your money to the energy companies, you should checkout how to go solar today and start saving money.

The Great Salt Lake

Photos above were taken during our summer trip last year at Salt Lake Marina, Salt Lake City, Utah. The Great Salt Lake is one of the most asked-about tourist destinations in Utah. It is the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi River. Great Salt Lake is salty because it does not have an outlet. Tributary rivers are constantly bringing in small amounts of salt dissolved in their fresh water flow. Once in the Great Salt Lake much of the water evaporates leaving the salt behind. Great Salt Lake is too saline to support fish and most other aquatic species. Several types of algae live in the lake. Brine shrimp and brine flies can tolerate the high salt content and feed on the algae.

The marina is located on the south shore of the Great Salt Lake, 16 miles west of Salt Lake City along Interstate 80. A marina with 300 slips is available for year-round boating on the lake that never freezes.
