Where to Stay in Washington, DC | Kimpton Hotel Madera

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had wonderful holiday celebration. My family and I just got back from our holiday/anniversary trip and we had a blast. We went to Washington DC for Christmas and also to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. It has long been on our bucket list to explore our nation’s capital. Finally we did it!
One of the most visited cities in the USA, Washington, DC offers a variety of interesting experiences, from learning about American history and government to seeing many of the most iconic sights in the country. This city is brimming with must-see events, exhibits and festivals for you to plan a trip around. It’s also home to great food, art, cultural attractions and much more. So don’t get overwhelmed!
December weather in DC can vary so much. The weather was cold during Christmas week but it was  manageable. I thought cold weather is a whole lot easier to deal with than the heat and humidity, not to mention the crowds in the summer. If you are planning to visit the city, December is a good time to come.
When it comes to getting around from point A to point B, the metro is absolutely the easiest way to get around, hands down. Surprisingly we had no issue taking the metro even with a big baby stroller. It’s so convenient to just  hop on and hop off. The metro stations that we’ve been to has elevator, handicap access, clean, safe, and efficient.
As far as finding a safe hotel in Washington, DC, Kimpton Hotel Madera is a great choice if you don’t want to be smack in the middle of downtown. This contemporary hotel is a 3-minute walk from the Dupont Circle Metro station and 1 mile each from the White House and the Lincoln Memorial. Kimpton Hotel Madera lives up to its Spanish translation of refined "timber." The crafted, woodsy aura infuses the entire experience, calming guests' spirits and invigorating the senses in spaces from the homey restaurant Firely to spacious, luxury guest rooms.
Our 2-night accommodation at Kimpton Hotel Madera was exceptional! The staff was very helpful, hospitable and accommodating. We were impressed with our sophisticated and modern Junior Queen Suite with Twin Bunk room.
It's clean and comfortable! The spacious room reveal a warm palette of organic colors, paired with rich, natural materials. The welcoming beds are framed by an oversized headboard and topped with a handmade batik body pillow.
The room also has a separate seating area, twin bunk beds, a pull out sleeper sofa and baby crib.
Italian frette linens. Oversized work desk. Luxurious bathrobes. Gaiam yoga mat. Flat screen tv. Xbox One and board games to use in the room. In room laptop safe. Fully stocked honor bar. A pet friendly hotel – providing complimentary pet toys, beds, food and water bowls, and disposable waste bags.

If you are staying at Kimpton Hotel Madera, don't miss their quaint and charming onsite bar and restaurant. Firefly is a restaurant built around a large indoor tree, serving seasonal, local New American comfort food.
The hotel provides complimentary bikes to use around town, free coffee service in the lobby each morning, and a hosted evening wine hour each night.
A little heads up: tight check in area, no ramp access going to the elevator, hotel lobby door entrance is not automatic, only one elevator, tight bathroom space and no parking.
Our over all experience was terrific! Definitely a great place to enjoy a holiday away from home. The staff at this hotel went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. They made our 14th wedding anniversary extra special.  For more details, visit www.hotelmadera.com or check our their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates and promotions.
I have to say that Washington, DC is by far one of our favorite places to visit because history just seeps into us no matter where we go.

Disclosure: We received a two-night complimentary stay at Kimpton Hotel Madera in exchange for a fair review.

DC is one of my favorite places to visit as well. I'm DC bound later this month and I wish I knew about the Kimpton Hotel before I booked my hotel stay. Parking is always a hassle when staying in DC but thank goodness most of the places I need to get to are accessible by train.

I stayed at a Kimpton hotel not long ago and loved it. I'm a native Washingtonian living in FL now, but I'll have to check this out the next time I'm in town!
