5 Ways To Make A Healthy Lifestyle More Fun

Eating a healthy balanced diet and maintaining a regular exercise regime has a positive impact on your cardiovascular health, reduces your risk of diseases like diabetes and cancer, and is beneficial for your mood and mental well-being. With all of these positives, you owe it to yourself to lead a healthy lifestyle, but many people find that work, stress, and their busy social life gets in the way. Here are five easy tips to put the fun back into health and fitness.

Upgrade Your Pots and Pans
If you have been looking for an excuse to buy some great cookware, this is it! If you are using scratched and peeling old pots that are well past their used by date, it is time to do a clean out. Some materials that are used to make cookware can be toxic, particularly if the coating is damaged. Do your insides a favor and avoid chemicals such as PFOA and PTFE. Investing in high-quality cookware will not only ensure you aren’t accidentally consuming toxic substances but also help you to reduce or eliminate the oil that you use for cooking. You are sure to want to spend more time in the kitchen on food prep with your shiny new pans, and you get to go on this shopping trip guilt-free!

Move it Your Way
I would rather have a lobotomy than go for a jog, and I dread the thought of a weekly sporting commitment. But I know that walks near the ocean and morning yoga classes fill me with joy and energy to embrace the day. Find a fitness activity that makes you feel terrific, and you will soon find yourself looking forward to the daily exercise.

Choose your Timing
There has been lots of research done around when you should exercise. While it may be true that you get the maximum benefit first thing in the morning, at the end of the day, you should work out when it feels right for you. If you are a night owl, then you are likely to press the snooze button on your alarm repeatedly until it is too late to squeeze in even a sit-up. If you are a morning person, then committing to an evening group soccer match can feel like torture when all you want to do is go home and slip into your pajamas. Don’t try to force yourself to do something that doesn’t come naturally. Instead, exercise at whatever time you will enjoy it, and you will find you’re far more likely to stick to it.

Get your Family and Friends On Board
It is hard to resist if your housemate is offering you rocky road ice cream after dinner or serving up cheese platters on a Saturday afternoon, so try to get your friends and family members on board. Make it fun by challenging each other to see how many different vegetables you can squeeze into your meal or having a soccer match together every Sunday at the park.

Switch Up your Social Plans
If your social circle always catches up for drinks and bar food, now is the perfect time to switch it up. Suggest an afternoon hike, challenge them to come rock climbing with you, or organize an evening dance class together.

The more that you enjoy yourself, the more likely you are to stick to your healthy habits!
