How to Host Your First Dinner Party

Image sourced from Pexels. CC0 License

Dinner parties are fun. Everyone gets together and eats and drinks and has a good time. Sometimes there are games involved where everyone can compete and laugh and get to know each other. It is always a good time and everyone always has fun. Unless you’re the host. That’s when things can get stressful, especially if you have never done it before. Here are a few ways you can host your first dinner party without stressing yourself out.

Plan

Just do it. Make a plan. When you know what you’re going to serve, what day and time you’re going to host, and who is going to be in attendance, you are going to be unstoppable. There are a lot of boxes to check off before having your friends over, but if you get a comprehensive list on paper, you can tackle anything that may come your way.

Once the list is completed, start sending out your invites and see if your day and time works for everyone. Then you can start preparing for all of the fun.

Keep It Small

This is your first time out of the gate, so you don’t want to overwhelm yourself with too many people who may cause you a bit of stress. Keep it simple and invite six to eight people. That is the perfect amount. Any recipe you get will yield up to four, and all you have to do is double the recipe and you will be right on point. That will reduce the stress of making sure you have enough food.

Find An Easy Recipe

Don’t try and hit a homerun your first time hosting. Find a recipe that is easy to make, so that you can easily feed everyone good food without losing your own appetite. Recipes like baked chicken florentine are excellent because they are flavorful and fancy, yet they are easy to put together, and all you have to do is leave it in the oven. There’s no active cooking involved.

The rest of your free time can be spent preparing sides, making sure hors d'oeuvres are out, and drinks are full.

Know Your Bar

Make sure you have the basics to offer your guests. A vodka, gin, tequila, and whiskey should be on hand with a white wine, red wine, and beer. It seems like a lot, but you can get reasonably priced bottles of each. A standard mixer like club soda is all you need. Otherwise, guests will drink spirits on the rocks.

Knowing that you have enough in the drink department will also make hosting the party easier. There is no need for a signature drink yet, that can wait until you’re a dinner party pro.

Set the Ambiance

To set the mood, make sure you have fun games to play, good music going, great lighting, and a tablescape that is festive. All of these small touches will make your guests feel welcome, feel relaxed, and feel hungry for the great meal you have planned.

3 Options for Vacation Water Activities

Vacation trip options abound. Many find it hard to choose from so many tempting locales worldwide, but it makes sense to book a vacation on the oceanfront for several people seeking a total break from everyday concerns. You and your guests can enjoy the beach with its sounds and textures provided by sand and local natural habitats only found in the region. Furthermore, one of the best ways to experience the ocean is by participating in water activities. Although many water activities may be available where you wish to visit, you might consider these three popular options for spending time on the water while on your holiday.

Scuba Diving

For those with strong swimming skills, you will find that scuba diving brings a new level of experience that you can only find on the water. Instructors and boat rentals make it possible to learn diving or extend your current skill level, and then you can head out to the ocean for fun. In addition, you might see marine life and other types of underwater sights up close.

Fishing Trips

Avid fishers will want to make arrangements for a fishing trip. The local boat owners know excellent fishing spots, and you will learn more about the specific varieties of fish available at your vacation location. Fishing has a mix of relaxation and heightened action when you get a fish on your line, so it makes for a well-rounded time out on the ocean. Fishing trip companies can also help with local fishing licenses for you and give you the necessary preparation to make your fishing trip memorable.

Sealife Excursions

After you have booked accommodations like North Carolina beachfront rentals and other similar lodgings for your journey, you can make plans to learn more about the local marine life by reserving your spot on a local ocean cruise of the area. For example, tour guides make the trip worthwhile because they bring their knowledge about the local sea creatures to life for you and point out examples as you spend time out on the ocean. Similarly, you might choose to join a local kayak trip. This activity will bring you up close to smaller sea life along the shores, and an instructor or guide can help point out unique and exciting flora and fauna that those on the land would often miss seeing. These water activities and others can enrich you personally and provide memorable vacation activities. Therefore, don't stay shorebound when visiting the beach, but instead enjoy all that the beachfront offers.

How the Pandemic Has Changed Concerts and Live Music

Prior to the pandemic, approximately 32 million people were buying concert tickets every year. Now, Luke Combs sings about crowds and shows and light after dark on a day when we aren't Six Feet Apart. UK music festivals like Glastonbury miss their fiftieth-anniversary party. The pandemic has changed the radio star. Dan Avidan lead singer for Starbomb with Billboard credits to his name is going to YouTube to stream music, because the world needs it.

Still, what the millions of concert attendees can do this year, and in years to come, is have faith in the heart of the artists that still want to sing for them. Learn more about the ways your favorite artists are doing to keep music alive for all of us.

Streaming Concerts

It's not the same thing, we get it. We watch the music awards show, and we just don't feel they live feel like we used to. However, it is still a successful model for both artists and fans alike. You know this because you may have watched some yourself already. Homecoming for Beyonce scored over one million viewers, and Springsteen on Broadway made over 100 million music lovers happy.

On smaller scales, services like Spotify and Bandcamp are bringing attention to artists for fans of music.

Pandemic Friendly Live Shows

There are still some festivals and concerts happening post-2021, but 2020 was a wipe-out. As vaccinations begin to roll out, and pandemic protocols become a way of life, many concerts today are still saying the show must go on.

When they do, protocols are in place for concertgoers and fans. There will also be changes that go beyond six feet apart rules that will dampen the experience for fans. Meet and Greets with artists will be fewer and farther between, if at all. VIP passes and exclusive times before and after shows will be eliminated.

The quality of the shows will change as well. Those who are hearing impaired may suffer from audio qualities, and not want to go at all. The pandemic has changed the way we experience live music for a long time.

Less Money

Everyone has a less disposable income right now, and that has slammed every industry, including the music industry. When artists such as Dan Avidan bring music or comedic performances to YouTube, this is one of the reasons why.

Not only are the artists working with pandemic protocols, closed restaurants, and bars where they can't perform anymore, but they are also dealing with an audience problem. The audience that is there, is six feet apart. The audience that isn't, is weeping at home because they can't afford a dinner out today.

Then there are the road crews, band management, and additional staff whose lives will take some time to recover because their income is out as well. This is a billion-dollar industry that has hit everybody. Many artists will say it has hit fans the most, because that is who they get up for.

Everybody wants live music back as badly as you do.

Sing With Artists at Home

When you are worried that the pandemic has ruined your primary source of entertainment, sing with your favorite artists at home. Make sure that you visit the streaming service that they are on, use their music, and spend your smaller entertainment budget that way. That helps the industry, helps you, and could make a dent in bringing live shows back faster.

Party Snacks: Best Recipes to Try for Your Next Sleepover

Who says that only children can have fun at sleepovers? They can be as much fun in your 20’s as they were in your early preteen years. It is important to keep a good bond with your friends, and the best way to do that is to spend time together. It gets quite hard keeping track of friends when everyone has started working. Plan a sleepover with all of your friends, even if it has to be months in advance. If you are worried about the food part of it, leave that to us. We have curated some of the best party sleepover snacks that can help you have a great night with your friends.

Best Teepee Slumber Parties In Sydney | ellaslist

The best chicken loaded nachos

The best snack food is definitely a plate of loaded nachos. Who doesn’t love nachos? This recipe offers you a tremendous amount of ease and convenience since it is baked in the oven. You can go as wild as you would like with the toppings. Think of cheese, seasoned chicken, salsa, guacamole, Pico de Gallo, and even sour cream! This will definitely be a popular dish among your friends that gets made in less than 10 minutes and is guaranteed to give you back an empty plate within no time. You can even add some jalapenos to bring some heat into these loaded nachos.

These ‘edible’ fudgy chocolate brownies

Before you make this, it is important to check whether recreational use of cannabis is legal in your state or not. If it is, then you are in for quite a delicious treat. The beauty of edibles is that you do not have to use really good weed in order to get a really good high. You can even use some reggie weed in order to make your cannabutter that goes into your brownies. Remember to decarboxylate the weed before you melt it with the butter. All you need is some cocoa powder, chocolate compound, flour, eggs, vanilla, and sugar. Mix the cannabutter into the rest of the ingredients and cook them for 35-40 minutes in order to get that perfect consistency.

The best spinach and artichoke dip

Do not be fooled by the name. This is definitely not as healthy as it sounds and is filled with cheesy goodness. Once you make this, you will never buy spinach and artichoke dip from the store ever again. This is the ultimate party dip and there is almost no one who can resist it. The ingredients that you need are sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic, cream cheese, pepper, salt, mozzarella, parmesan, artichokes, and spinach. It is as easy as mixing all of these together and putting it into an oven preheated at 350 degrees for only 20 minutes, or till it is baked through fully, you can serve it with some pita chips or even some crispy lavash if you feel like it.

It is important to stay connected with your friends through the years, and the best way to do it is to have sleepovers from time to time in order to strengthen your bond. Use these recipes as the perfect snacks for your reunion.

What To Expect in Season 2 of DC's Stargirl

The DC Universe series helmed by executive producer Geoff Johns, Stargirl, has recently finished its first season. Though the teen superhero show aired in the streaming service first and then on The CW a few days later, the upcoming second season will air exclusively on the network. Between a delayed production and the switch in platforms, fans might need a refresher on the potential plots that season two may explore. SPOILERS for the season one finale ahead.

DC Universe's Stargirl series debuts first look at WonderCon - Polygon

Changed Status Quo

The first season finale ends with several significant changes. Courtney Whitmore's mother and step-brother, Barbara and Mike Dugan, find out about her double life as Stargirl, along with her step-father being a former superhero and current pilot of the STRIPE mech. While they accept their roles, their lives are bound to get difficult. Courtney's friends also have their problems, with the vengeful Rick Tyler refusing to kill Solomon Grundy, the religious Yolanda Montez killing the villain Mindworm and Beth Chapel losing Chuck, the artificial intelligence inside Dr. Mid-Nite's goggles that she befriended.

New Heroes and Villains

Though Courtney assembled a new version of the Justice Society of America with Pat, Yolanda, Rick and Beth, there are still more JSA items waiting for new owners. The Helmet of Fate, the Green Lantern and Johnny Thunder's pen may find other people to wield them. Sir Justin also leaves Blue Valley to reunite the remaining Seven Soldiers of Victory. Meanwhile, various members of the Injustice Society of America have children that could get revenge on their parents' behalf, such as Cameron Mahkent, Isaac Bowin and Artemis Crock. Additionally, Cindy Burman now holds the gem that houses the malevolent being Eclipso. Finally, veteran ISA member Shade decries Jordan Mahkent's failed plot as he prepares his own scheme.

Return of Starman

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the season takes place in the final scene. In California, a mysterious stranger asks people for Pat's whereabouts. This person is quickly revealed to be Sylvester Pemberton, the original Starman, Pat's best friend and Courtney's predecessor. Everyone thought Jordan killed him and Courtney even assumed he was her biological father before she faced the harsh truth and embraced Pat as her real father. If this man is really him, his return raises several questions and can potentially complicate the lives of Courtney, Pat and the new JSA.

The first season finale of Stargirl concludes several plotlines while setting up plenty of new stories in the future. Loyal viewers can refresh themselves on these events when the show returns to its new home on The CW.

Top 5 Water Toys for Summer

Summer is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy warmer weather. There are a variety of water toys to buy online or in stores. Whether you have a little or a lot of space to play, here are five water toys to have fun with family and friends.
Gymax Inflatable Rainbow Sprinkler Backyard Games Summer Outside ...
1.Swimming Pool
If you don’t want to invest the time or money on installing an in-ground swimming pool, there are many options for above-ground pools. You can find pools online or at your local home improvement store. Pools can be inflatable, hard-sided or supported with metal frames. Pool shapes are typically round or rectangular. If you decide to go with an above-ground pool, be sure to properly maintain it to ensure good health for swimmers and your pool. Have water testing Pittsburgh done each week and clean it according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

2. Spa
A spa is another great way to relax outdoors. Spas vary in price and configuration. Typically, larger spas will be more expensive than smaller ones. You’ll want to research spas before buying one. The main things to look for when buying a spa include the number of seats, number of jets, type of electricity and filtration. If you’re not sure what you’re looking for, consider looking online or in person to see what style you like and what fits your budget.

3. Sprinklers
While you can just turn on your lawn sprinklers and let the kids run through them, there are so many fun sprinkler options that take this activity to the next level. Magical unicorns, rainbows, beach balls and trampoline sprinklers are among the many fun sprinkler options. Plus, regular lawn sprinklers may pose a risk to children who are unaware of the location of sprinkler heads.

4. Slip-and-Slide
Most adults remember the good old days of running and sliding down a slip-and-slide. There are some pretty good options out there if you’re looking for a fun way to spend a hot afternoon. Many water slides today are made of heavy-duty PVC material for better durability.

5. Water Balloons and Squirt Guns
If space is limited, you don’t have to feel left out of the summer fun. Water balloons and squirt guns are a great way to cool off in the sun. Water balloons are great for simply throwing at friends and family members or you can design some fun games to play, such as water balloon volleyball or hot potato. Squirt guns come in a variety of sizes and styles. Super-soakers and water blasters are a great investment for guaranteed summer fun.

Whether you have a large yard or no backyard at all, get outside and enjoy some fun water toys. You can splurge on a spa or pool or simply visit your local park to play water balloon games and activities.

Six Things Genuine Psychics Will Never Say

Stories about people who visit a psychic and receive a suspicious reading are far too common. Sometimes these suspicious tidings are accompanied by dire warnings of unavoidable tragedies—unavoidable, that is, until the client ponies up large sums of additional money to secure the psychic’s “help.” Don’t fall for the scams. There are red flags you can watch for. Here are six things you will never hear from a genuine psychic.
Red Flag #1: “You're Possessed!”
Some unethical psychics stoop as low as scaring people into believing they're demon-possessed. Even worse, they then claim that only they could exorcise those demons. Of course, at significant cost. It may sound crazy to you, but cautionary tales frequently warn people about psychics who say this very thing.
As if that isn’t bad enough, these psychics will threaten clients that if they tell anybody else, “you’ll make the demons even angrier,” so the psychic won’t be able to exorcise them! If a psychic pulls this routine on you, run away and don’t ever go back.
Red Flag #2: “You’re Cursed!”
Another version of the “You’re possessed!” storyline is that you’re cursed, and the psychic who discovered your curse is the only person who could lift it. This doesn’t mean that you’re not cursed. It’s unlikely, but you very well could be, and if you are, you’d probably know it. In such a case, any competent professional will be able to help you, not just the deceitful scammer who’s trying to squeeze more money out of you at the moment.
The issue is often not if the person is a legitimate psychic or not, but rather if they’re an honorable businessperson or not. Are they charging you a fair amount for their time and services? Or, are they demanding that you shell out an unreasonable amount because they claim that only they could possibly help you?
Red Flag #3: “Somebody Wants to Kill You!”
Anyone who’s ever worked as a professional psychic knows that there aren’t any guarantees in the mystical arts. Well-trained intuitive readers are able to look at a spread of tarot cards and discern potential peril and hidden hazards there. But such warnings are never very specific.
Psychics may see hints that somebody in your life may be lying to you, or that somebody you thought you could trust is considering betraying you, or that danger is looming on your horizon or in the future of someone close to you. But no genuine psychic would ever tell you (or anyone else, for that matter) that somebody wants you dead. That’s simply too specific of a prediction to make. They should certainly tell you any less-than-encouraging information they may foresee right along with the more optimistic stuff. But be wary of anybody who tells you anything so specific.
Red Flag #4. “You're a Bad Person!”
Some people end up feeling downright distraught by the end of their psychic reading. Though it may have started well, the reader scolded and shamed the client for some lapse in judgment, leaving the client feeling like a bad person for a past mistake. The psychic fixated on the mistake, and just couldn’t let it go.
But psychics aren’t in business to judge you. Their goals should be to offer consultation, help clients understand the circumstances they’re facing, and help them figure out what potential solutions may be heading their way. They aren’t there to berate you, point fingers at you, or shame you.
There certainly will be times when psychics need to tell clients things that they may not want to hear. But there’s a huge difference between being honest and forthright about a situation, and being brutal about it. Opinions, judgments, and assumptions need to be left out of the reading.
Red Flag #5. “You’re Terminally Ill!”
It's awful that this scenario needs to be addressed at all. But it’s all too common for psychics to reveal to them that they have an incurable disease. If a psychic ever “diagnoses” you with a specific disease, you should definitely take it as a warning, but not regarding your health.
A genuine psychic certainly will be able to tell you if you or somebody close to you is facing health issues. But he or she will say something like, “I’m concerned that somebody close to you is facing a medical challenge. Has everybody been seeing their doctors for their regular checkups?”
Even if a psychic does surmise that somebody close to you may not have much time left in this world, no psychic should ever tell you that your Nana will be dead by Thursday. A more professional and ethical approach would be to say something along the lines of, “I’m sensing that your grandma is quite elderly and that you’ve been thinking about spending some extra time together. This would be a good time to do that.”
Telling a client that they or someone close to them have some specific disease or terminal illness would be irresponsible. It doesn’t serve the client’s best interests, so no professional psychic should do that.
Red Flag #6. “You Can't Change the Future!”
Are we doomed to succumb to the random whims of fate, or can we affect what destiny has in store for us? Nobody can prove for certain, but everyone can control what will happen to them. This means that if you’re unhappy about the direction your life is taking, your choices can change its course. These changes may need to be made slowly and individually, but you can make them.

So, be skeptical if a psychic says that everything he or she is telling you is set in stone. This is your journey. The choices are yours. The path is yours to direct. Only you get to decide where it will lead you!

4 Great Activities To Do With The Kids This Easter

Easter is a beautiful time to rejoice and celebrate life with those who are nearest and dearest to you. For anyone with a sweet-tooth and families with small children - even those who do not observe the religious aspect, it can be a scary, long period of chocolatey temptation! This year, don’t let your Easter be ruled by a sugar rush (from you or your kids), instead, try preparing some fun activities for the big day. Here are five family-friendly ways you can spend your Easter:

1. Create A Family Cooking Team

There are many sugar-loaded games to choose from but if you want to do something different, perhaps even healthy, why not involve the kids in preparing your Easter meal?
You can make a day of it. Get the kids to come up with menu ideas for an entree, main, and dessert. Then, on the day, they reveal their choices, and together you can prep and create the meal while teaching your kids about shopping, using the right cookware safely, cooking methods, setting a table, serving, and cleaning up. Give them the creative freedom of decorating the dining space so they can set the festive ambiance.
While it may all feel like a game to a child, it’s a great opportunity for them to learn some valuable skills and appreciate the work that goes into preparing their favorite meals and hosting an event. They might even surprise you with the outcomes.

2. A Surprise Easter Egg Hunt

Spice up the timeless, classic Easter game with the element of surprise. There are a few ways you can do this. One is to set up the house while your little ones are asleep. Let them know about their hunting mission first thing in the morning. Alternatively, you could spring the idea on them by having the Easter bunny (a costumed member of the household) drop in for a surprise visit to let them know in person. If 2020 means your household is a little smaller this festive season, it could even be a video call from the bunny.

3. Send Out Family-Branded Easter Baskets

Set aside a crafternoon to create customized gift baskets for family members and friends that you will not be seeing in person this Easter. Let your kids think outside-the-box when thinking up gift ideas, it doesn’t need to be all chocolates and biscuits. Maybe they want to make storybooks, bunny-masks, or other artwork, or maybe they’d like to include items that remind them of their family members, for example, a snack or drink their grandparents like to have at the dinner table. You could take it an extra step further this year to have your gifts branded with your family name, or, the kids could make up a logo and personal message to print on the basket and gifts. This is one fun activity that will leave everyone in your family feeling included at Easter, even if you are celebrating apart from some members.

4. Easter Egg Olympics

Why settle for just one or two egg-themed games when you can hold a grand, spectacular Easter Egg Olympics just for your family? Like all of the above activities, inclusion is key. Put the kids on ‘Easter Olympic decorating duty’ to design their activity space with things like posters, drawings, and balloons. You can include as many classic Easter games as you wish:
Egg and spoon race
Egg toss
Egg bowling
Egg cracking
Egg painting

This is a great way to keep the family active and occupied for the day and leave the chocolate-eating until last - as the reward!

No matter which of the above activities you choose, remember to practice gratitude because, at the end of the day, the greatest gift of all is being able to spend the holiday with your loved ones.

Planning the Perfect Toddler Party

Parents spend hundreds of dollars on their children's birthday parties, in fact, one poll found that that 11 percent of mom and dads who responded paid more than $500 for their one-year-old's celebration. The good news is that you can throw your toddler a memorable party that's as budget-friendly or as extravagant as you wish, whether it's a birthday celebration or something else by following these planning tips.
Why I will never host another children's birthday party

The Location
The venue for the party deserves some thought. You could always host it at home, but that means a big mess to clean up after it's all said and done along with other potential issues such as a place for parents to park their vehicles, how the pets will cope and so on. Just a few ideas if you'd rather hold it elsewhere include church-owned rec rooms, a park or community clubhouse. You might even check with a local daycare center too.

Activities
When considering party activities for toddlers, keep in mind that most will enjoy doing simple things like blowing bubbles, playdough, coloring books, "freeze" dances, or splashing in a pool if it's held during the warmer months of the year. The key is to plan activities that they can enjoy in short time periods, like 10 or 15 minutes due to their shorter attention spans.

Entertainment
Entertainment can be a great way to keep all the little ones entertained and happy. Does your little one have a favorite character, maybe a princess, pirate or someone from a beloved cartoon? Costumed characters for hire can be relatively inexpensive while being the highlight of the party - and giving mom and/or dad a break for a while too, providing time to take photos and chat with other parents as well. Young party-goers will be mesmerized and less likely to tumble over your furniture, break something precious, or torture the family dog as a talented kids' entertainer knows how to make sure it will all flow smoothly.

The Theme
If you hire a costumed character, it will be easy to create a theme around that, just keep in mind that popular characters lend themselves to other facets of the event, from the decor and party favors to cake - a fairytale princess or a pirate cake, for example, is sure to be a big hit. Then the grand finale might be when that character actually shows up - can you imagine the look on his or her face?

The Presents
When it comes to opening the presents, you may need to help your toddler by doing a little coaching, or simply let him or her open them later. You could receive them, put them on display and then send out thank-you notes afterward, perhaps with a picture of your child holding the gift. That will avoid the awkwardness that might come if your toddler is disappointed or disinterested in a present, or other kids get jealous. If you decide that they'll be opened up at the party, be sure your child understands the polite way to do it - it can be an important lesson learned. It can also be a teaching opportunity for other kids who can learn that yes, life isn't always fair - maybe Noah got a really cool gift, but perhaps Benjamin has something at home that the birthday boy doesn't.

Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center in Branson

An Ozark town in Southwest Missouri known as a family vacation destination, Branson is proud to call itself the live entertainment capital of the world. This unique city has a lot of fun things to offer for all age groups.

My family and I decided to spend our Christmas holiday in Branson, and we had a great time! It was quite a long drive from Texas but it was a fun road trip. Even our 2-year old enjoyed the whole adventure and she didn't complain one bit!

In my opinion, one week in Branson is sure not enough to explore the entire city, but we were able to do and see some of the major attractions that the city has to offer. One of the highlights of our trip is going to the Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center.
Easily recognizable as one of the most unique buildings in the area, the Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center in Branson is home to a one-of-a-kind facade that marks you arrival at one of the most fun activities in town. Yes, it's the building on Highway 76 being climbed by a giant Great Ape!
Replicating the look of New York City’s skyline, King Kong sits atop one of the tallest skyscrapers – towering over the guests as they enter the museum. Sitting beside the skyline is a fun interpretation of Mt. Rushmore – only this one features some of Hollywood’s most beloved stars and includes: Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, Charlie Chaplin, and Elvis Presley.
If you want to get up close and personal with your favorite stars and pose for fun pics with them, the Hollywood Wax Museum is definitely the place for you. While there, you'll also get the scoop on their pets, pet peeves, and accomplishments.
From Hollywood movies to TV shows and cultural icons – the wax museum gives you a chance to experience a one-of-a-kind attraction that is unlike anything you have ever seen. There was a good variety of celebrities  and props you could take pictures with.
After seeing stars, you can head next door to become a star at Shoot for the Stars Mini-Golf. While putting through palm trees and paparazzi, you'll take the 18 steps to becoming one of Hollywood's elite.
The miniature golf course is perfect at night! But no running waters during winter time but it was OK.
The Castle of Chaos 5D theater-experience is like nothing else. Everything is “in your face” making you giggle or screech or flinch, all while using your laser blaster to shoot for the highest score. My oldest daughter went in twice using my ticket, and that was her favorite experience.
Finally, you'll score big if you're The Chosen One at Hannah's Maze of Mirrors, where Princess Hannah of Savannah is awaiting rescue.
You'll need to find your way through 288 potential turns among hundreds of mirrored walls and archways and some areas where you see infinite reflections in every direction.

Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center in Branson is a unique experience that the whole family can enjoy. My family and I had a great experience and liked the fact that it's a self guided tour and has easy access to elevator. If you happen to visit Branson, don't miss the Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center and I suggest to make sure to buy the "All Access Pass" ticket.

Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets through a partnership with Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center in Bransonand and USFamilyGuide.com in exchange for my honest review.

Celebrating our post 15th wedding anniversary at the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in Dallas Castle was a sweet treat! It's been a decade since the last time I saw one in Vegas. I was a tad hesitant to take our 2-year old with us, but surprisingly she had a blast cheering with the crowd.

We witnessed and marveled an amazing show that presents a rousing live jousting tournament, classic sword fights, and an awe-inspiring horsemanship.
A sweeping musical score and brilliant lights provide a fabulous backdrop for this spellbinding experience that blurs the boundary between fairy tale and spectacle.
The castle’s serfs and wenches served us a delicious “hands-on” medieval-style four-course meal that includes garlic bread, tomato bisque soup, oven roasted chicken, herb-basted potato, corn cobbette, cake, coffee and non-alcoholic beverages.

Escape Your Day-to-Day Job With An Escape Room

The escape room sector new but it is growing in popularity and profit. 2019 has seen its first escape tragedy when teenage girls died in an escape room fire in Poland. Countless companies have since the accident revisited their health and safety policy and, more importantly, their exit routes. Indeed, as the core principle in an escape room is to find a key to unlock the padlock on the door, it can seem at first counterproductive to tell players how to get out. However, since 2007 – when the first room opened in Japan – these entertaining live puzzles have become so popular that there are now over 2,300 escape room companies in the USA only and 10,000 around the world. With the growth, escape rooms have also moved away from a simple padlock theme.

Despite the rapid growth, enthusiastic players continue to complain that there are still not enough rooms. In other words, if you’re looking for a profitable business, the escape room sector offers plenty of opportunities for new entrepreneurs. The demand is increasing every day. With premium prices for the experience, ranging from $30 for a 60-min game up to over $70 per player, it’s easy to see how launching a room with minimal investment can turn into a profit within a few weeks. Even landlords and local authorities gain from the rise of the industry as escape games can help to revive the high street. In short, if you’re looking for a new venture to take you out of the 9-to-5 dull office, starting your own escape room company might just be the thing for you.

Everybody loves them
Escape rooms have a dual advantage. Indeed, players and enthusiasts come from a variety of backgrounds. Unlike any other industry where the demographic target stays fixed, an escape room can attract a mix of generations, professional environments, races, genders and nationalities. The sky is the limit when it comes to escape room players; ultimately, some players are even bending the rules to bring young babies or pets into the room with them. In other words, it’s the perfect environment for a new business owner as you don’t really need to run a thorough market survey to identify your audience. Additionally, the diversity of escape rooms across the world reveals a highly inspiring and creative sector. After all, who doesn’t like a real-life adventure? And that’s where the escape finds its strength. Because everybody loves an adventure, it only takes passion and creativity to open a decent escape room. You don’t need any specific skill to make it work, which is liberating when you come from an office place.

How many rooms do you ideally need?
Opening an escape room business remains a costly investment in terms of room design and build. Many business owners choose to create most of the decor themselves – relying on certified professionals when necessary – to save costs. If you aren’t afraid of getting your hands dirty, you can launch a quality room for a few thousand dollars. Making a profit, however, will require to run multiple games – as you also need to cover staff and location costs. Small companies can typically cover their expenses with three rooms. Ideally, you should offer as many rooms as possible to your customers without compromising on quality. Indeed, returning players are a source of income; therefore, you need to have more than one room to offer to make sure players can come back. It’s not uncommon for a company to use multiple locations in the same town or to rent an entire office building – depending on space and availability. Staff management becomes a crucial element to success. Scheduling tools such as these https://getsling.com/blog/free-employee-scheduling-software/ can make a significant difference. Indeed, your players need a game master for each game – which makes one employee per room minimum – and you should also have someone in the reception area at all times. With opening hours from early in the morning until late at night, a real-time scheduling tool lets you manage your teams effectively.

What the best game model?
If you’re going to appeal to your players, you need to figure out what people expect. The best way to do so as a new business owner is to play a few games yourself and understand the difference between gen 1 and gen 2 rooms, as explained here https://www.hiddenkeyescapes.com/the-key/differences-generation-1-generation-2-rooms/. Indeed, gen 1 rooms are easier to build on a low budget as they are focused around puzzles – the investment in the decor and immersion is minimal. On the other hand, a gen 2 room may be more expensive to design, but it also more profitable – as the premium fees are higher. Additionally, you should also consider the number of players as well as weigh the pros and cons of a public vs a private room in terms of profitability.

You want to go above and beyond
It’s not uncommon for owners to want to differentiate themselves with a room that gets everybody talking. Typically, scary rooms make the news and are more likely to make your name known. A game such as North Carolina plague-themed escape room where plague zombies and a Plague Doctor are in the room with you guarantees an unforgettably terrifying experience. Should you aim for a strong scare factor to build your reputation? Experts agree that fear is the easiest trigger. However, differentiation strategy would recommend targeting a different theme to stand out in this world of terrors!

Make the fun accessible
Just like websites, escape rooms need to embrace accessibility. Wheelchair users want to live an adventure as much as anybody else , for instance. Creating an escape room that welcomes all players, regardless of their handicap, from wheelchair users to blind or deaf players, is the only way to share the fun. It’s hard work, admittedly, to build puzzles that work for all, but it’s a creativity necessity.

The little details that change everything
Are escape rooms just a scary adventure? Experts believe that escape rooms tap into our inner playfulness. As such, they don’t need to be scary. They only need to be enjoyable! But more importantly, they’ve come to replace events and parties for many enthusiastic players. For instance, more and more escapists ask for a ring to be hidden in the room for a surprise proposal – take a look at this romantic video. Others get in touch to request a birthday cake – or bring a birthday cake to hide in the room – for children and adults’ parties. In other words, escape rooms are replacing venues for many emotional reunions.

What are the new market trends?
Bringing customers to your escape company is as much a matter of room designs as tapping into new target demographics. Indeed, while escape rooms appeal to a broad audience, you can’t forget that every target group has different expectations. Business customers who seek team-building experiences will prefer large rooms to accommodate their employees. On the other hand, single nights or dating games should focus on small rooms only. The key for an escape room is to remain adaptable so that the game can be set and even personalize to fit.

It’s fun but stressful too
In a customer-facing position, stress becomes a natural part of your day. You work hard to keep players happy, and ultimately, you might need to find a way to relax on the go.You need to keep a cool head to run an escape business!

The escape room sector is booming. Now’s the best time if you’re looking for a creative and playful side hustle to escape the dull office!
