COUPLE’S CORNER: Misunderstanding

Hello everyone! I know...I know... I missed the last episode of Couple's Corner last week, I was pretty busy that time and was not able to participate. It is real hard to go to school, take care of the family, and then blogging. I feel like my brain is scattered all over the place....:)
Anyhow, this week's theme of Couple's Corner meme is " Misunderstanding". Alas! Mabubuko na ako nito!

Our differences give us ample fodder for conflict. I love to organize things and if necessary I labeled them. Greg do everything by trial and error and get squirmy sometimes. I am a stickler for every traditional manners – the hostess gift, the thank you note, the Christmas card, and everything I could think that people would appreciate me as I would appreciate them. Greg is vocal and I am not, which sometimes I drive him nuts.

Inevitably, these differences sometimes lead to fights. Hubby crave immediate resolution once a conflict erupts. He believed that “you should not go to bed mad”. I am more circumspect, I find myself too emotional. I walk out and stay away until I figure out exactly what I need to say, though it takes few hours for me to let my feelings out.

Our first big misunderstanding was when I was 5 months pregnant of Akesha. Here's the scenario. Hubby's couple friend met us in the driving range to play miniature golf with them. When we're there... we are having a good time hitting the ball and taking individual turns. I'm the last one to hit the ball, so I am always left behind. I was really mad because they just left me while I am doing my turn. How rude! They were busy chatting and laughing. Hubby did not even care to ask me if I am doing ok. Hello I am 5 months pregnant!

On our way home, he noticed that I was not talking to him or if he ask some questions...I will just shrug my shoulders or nod. When we got home I'm still not talking to him. He kept following me wherever I go. So I locked the bathroom door. He was fed up of my behavior because I kept avoiding him. He kept knocking on the bathroom door and raised his voice by saying "Open the door for pit's sake". I still did not open the door. I am 101% stubborn. He was pretty upset because he can't find the bathroom key. So he used a screwdriver and he finally opened the door. I was already crying before I told him everything. He felt sorry about what he did and said that he will never do that again.

Now that we are married for almost 5 years....arguments, disagreements, and blah blah is like a nature to us. We fight over our individual characters, my insecurities, and our differences. I think we all do. I mean every marriage faces a series of crises of disappointment, when one or both partners realize that the spouse is not able to help solve one's own neurotic problems. This is what marriage is all about! Matira ang! I am very fortunate that hubby is very patient and understanding. He always feel sorry even if it is not his fault. I love you hon!

96th Bomb Squadron

Photo courtesy of my dearest wife.

The plane behind us is the 96th Bomb Squadron (96 BS). It is part of the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. It operates B-52 Stratofortress aircraft providing strategic bombing capability.

The 96th Bomb Squadron “Red Devils” started their proud heritage as the first American aero squadron to drop bombs in combat on June 12, 1918. The squadron continued its list of firsts through Gen. Billy Mitchell’s naval bombing trials in 1920 and 1921 and the Army Air Corps’ long-range goodwill flights to South America. The 96th deployed with the 2d Bombardment Group to fly combat missions from the Mediterranean Theater in support of the 12th and 15th Air Forces in World War II. The 96th defended the United States during the Cold War, flying B-29s, B-50s and B-47s until 1963, when it was deactivated.

In the winter of 2002 the 96th deployed to support Operation Enduring Freedom, flying more than 360 combat sorties with an outstanding 98 percent mission effectiveness rate. During Operation Anaconda, the nation’s longest ground operation since the Vietnam conflict, the squadron led the way in employing more than 2,100 weapons against entrenched terrorists. The 96th deployed again in the winter of 2003 and simultaneously supported Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. During Operation Iraqi Freedom the 96th led the largest CALCM strike in history shooting more than 140 missiles, while also integrating the Joint Direct Attack Munitions with CALCM on the same strike aircraft for the first time. The 96th’s pivotal role in Operation Iraqi Freedom provided shock and awe on night one by helping eliminate Baghdad’s fortifications and decimate Iraq’s most critical and highly defended targets. This destruction, along with close air support of coalition ground forces, ensured regime change and breathed democracy into the lives of the Iraqi people. Today the 96th Bomb Squadron continues its mission to “provide world-class B-52 aircraft and combat ready warriors to project devastating and sustainable airpower anytime, anywhere.”

Couple's Corner: I Do!

What's up people! It's Wednesday once again, and time for me to join Mami Liz's Couple's Corner meme. Thanks a lot Mami Liz for moderating this meme. Honestly, I wouldn't have the chance to share these photos without this meme.

It was November of 2004 when I finally said "YES" to Greg over the phone, and I was very anxious to tell my family about it. I know that it is a woman's dream to walk down the aisle with her white dress and so on.....but ours was a simple celebration with my family, relatives, officemates, and friends. We may not have a luxurious and a grand wedding celebration, but we had a wonderful time together. Someday soon... we look forward to renew our vows in the church...and that will be on our 10th wedding anniversary. You guys are all!

In the PI the wedding ring is place on the right side, however here in the US it is worn on the left side. My in-laws noticed about it, so I moved it on my left!

We had our simple ceremony and reception located at a private beach house near our town.

Here's my parents...they don't seem!

The Reception

Our Speech.....we both got teary-eyed.....

Then I cried.....

Then we kiss and hugged....

Very Important!
"ANNOUNCEMENT: By popular demand, we are suspending the Pinoy Smile Monthly Contest until further notice. Please help us improve the contest. "

"I lose respect already. I have no desire to help you guys neither to improve your contest nor your website. This may not be your fault, but the rules keep changing all the time is unprofessional. And also, you need to improve your costumer service. Good luck and thanks anyways!"

That's the comment I left from when I found out that they suspended the "Smile Contest". I was irritated when I found out about it. What a waste of time!

Not only I wasted my time and effort campaigning for Akesha, but also I failed you guys. The full support that you showed to us means a lot.

If you are planning to enter you kid to join the Smile Contest, just please please don't ask my favor to go over there. I already made up my mind to not visit their website. You can ask me any favor you want, but please don't make me go over there.

To all my blogger friends and some people from the blogging community, in behalf of my family I would like to thank you all for helping us vote for Akesha. I am sorry to tell you guys, the contest has ended like this.

For those of you who have posted a campaign for Akesha, I am asking a favor to please remove the campaign. I am very lucky to have your support guys. I know that you knew who you are. Your help means a lot. Now I know who my real friends are.

If you have a link or you have followed them, I don't think if it's worth to support them. Don't waste your time.

I am not a bad person, but once you get into my nerves that's the time you get to know the other side of me.

Sorry to be mean and a pessimist. Just expressing my thoughts. God Bless those cheaters!

Lets Pretend....Tumble Bee....opps! Bumble Bee

mommy moments

It is Mommy Moments time once again! This week's theme is "Let's Pretend". Akesha love to play pretend all the time. She loves to mimic her papa the most. She have quite a few "pretend" photos, but this bumble bee photo is the recent one. The last time she wore this costume was when she was a year old. She found this in her closet and she insisted to try it on even though it is too small for her.
